Burton Manor Plays Host to the British Youth Film Project

Movie-making is alive and well in the northwest!

Talented youngsters are working on a feature film which is being shot at various locations throughout the northwest, including Burton Manor, halfway between Chester and Heswall.

They are working with professional filmmakers and actors on an action adventure treasure hunt called 'TREASURE OF ALBION'.

Todd Carty (Grange Hill, Eastenders and The Bill) and Barbara King (Cats, 42nd Street and shooting 'The House on Straw Hill' with Martin Kemp and Patrick Bergen later this year) are starring, though the real stars of the film are the teenagers, aged 14-19.

Several colleges are engaging their students in this new form of educational experience.

Burton Manor on the Wirral/ Cheshire border is the film's first location. The manor house, its gardens and ancient 'Ice House' are key venues within the film. The film makes use of the unique character of Burton Manor, which acts as the activity centre around which the treasure hunt revolves.

The film crew will be moving onto other locations in the northwest including Heysham, Manchester Grammar School, Bispham Hall and Beeston Castle. - the site of the legendary treasure of Richard II.

The British Youth Film Project will be expanding to attract more students, famous stars and institutions to create a fully-mobile, professionally-led film training Academy. The project can be contacted through the links page of Burton Manor’s website: www.burtonmanor.com
